The completion of the UF Health Durbin Park campus in St. Johns County, Florida, marks a significant expansion of medical services in Northeast Florida. This major development, supported by Stellar as the primary construction manager, covers a 42.5-acre site aimed at enhancing access to advanced healthcare for the rapidly growing populations of St. Johns County and Jacksonville.
The first phase of the project includes a three-story, 72,000-square-foot medical office building and a five-story, 220,000-square-foot hospital. The medical office building consolidates various specialty services under one roof, offering general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, neurology, orthopedics, and more. This facility was designed by Gresham Smith, with Stellar overseeing its construction.
Adjacent to the medical office, the new UF Health Durbin Park Hospital features 99 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department. It provides comprehensive acute, intensive, and emergency care, along with operating rooms and advanced imaging capabilities. Stellar’s role extended to project management through a joint venture with Batson-Cook Construction, ensuring the successful completion of these state-of-the-art facilities.
Beyond the main buildings, Stellar also managed the construction of a standalone central energy plant, which is crucial for supplying the necessary infrastructure to support the campus’s operations.
This development is part of a broader $1 billion investment in the UF Health Durbin Park campus, projected to create approximately 2,000 jobs. The initiative is designed to meet the healthcare needs of a growing community, underscoring Stellar’s expanding footprint in major healthcare construction projects and its ongoing partnership with UF Health.
